I am Kevin and studying International Media and Computing at the HTW in Berlin (Germany). It has a focus on computer science, but the topics and projects have a media focus like web development or graphical data processing. There is also an internship abroad required to gain work and life experience. I am a genuinely curious and open person. Learning new things is something I live for. With PHP and Javascript being my key skills, I am looking for a frontend web development job. I like to work with frameworks like Vue.js, Nuxt, etc. and I am always looking into new ones.
Here are some projects I've made or am working on:
Student Project Unhooked
Unhooked is a web e-learning application that shows the user the manipulative methods in mobile games and social media apps. It uses Nuxt and Vue.js as frameworks and several nuxt modules like: localForage, axios, pwa, dotenv, fontawesome, i18n, toast, faker
Student Projekt The Mole
In our student project we investigated the possibility of improving a traditional board game with modern technology. Due to the lockdowns during the corona situation, we developed a particular interest in the idea of a digital board game. It offers the possibility to have common game nights with friends despite social distancing. The board game can be shared via a desktop screen for all players to see. And players can join the game using their smartphones. The advantage of this variant is that, for example, it is easier to conduct secret agreements or information during the game using the smartphone. This guarantees that no unauthorized person will find out about it. Furthermore, less physical material is needed and it is very easy to switch between languages. Moreover the integration of a “smart” opponent is possible with the help of a digital board game. In addition, the atmosphere of the game can be supported with suitable music. Since most game lovers enjoy the luck required when rolling the dice, we wanted to preserve this aspect. Above all, it was important to us not to leave out the social aspect of a game night, despite the use of a smartphone. That’s why we placed a lot of emphasis on ensuring that communication remains important in our game concept.
The established web platforms usually only offer the option of navigating via mouse and keyboard or 'touch'. With the ever-increasing popularity of 'smart' devices with voice control, the question arises as to why web platforms rarely use this functionality for control. The subject of this thesis is to develop a prototype web application that allows users to control the application via voice commands. The navigation should be quickly visible and easy to use for the users. This includes the consideration of usability and some accessibility aspects. Furthermore, it is the subject of this work to show and justify the added value for the use of multimodal inputs in web applications. At the end, a prototypical application is implemented, which is used for user evaluation to show an advantage.
Are you searching for a software engineer with a proven ability to develop Java or Web applications and lots of side skills? If so, please consider my resume below.
Since 2003, I am a software engineer. First in a big Company in Hanover (Germany) as a Database Developer. After that I served ten years in the Army, where I have been repeatedly recognized for developing innovative solutions for software and other systems. I was also responsible for leading large groups of people and reaching a goal under harsh conditions. In the Army my team was responsible for developing next-generation software, from initial requirement gathering to design, coding, testing, documentation and implementation.
Known for excellent client-facing skills, I have participated in proposals and presentations that have landed expensive contracts. Now I am in the third semester of my master studying International Media Informatics at the HTW in Berlin.
My technical expertise includes cross-platform proficiency (Windows, Unix, Linux); fluency in a lot scripting/programming languages (including PHP, JavaScript, Python and SQL); and advanced knowledge of developer applications, tools, methodologies and best practices (including OOD, client/server architecture and self-test automation).
My experience developing user-friendly solutions on time and on budget would enable me to step into a software engineering role at your Company and hit the ground running.
